Challenge: Reduce prescription drug costs for thousands of uninsured Ohioans.
Effort: Create Ohio’s Best Rx to give uninsured Ohioans the ability to buy medicine at a lower price. Established in 2003 with the support of the Ohio AFL-CIO, the program was expanded in 2006 as a result of the program’s success.
Results: Since 2003, nearly 450,000 Ohioans have saved an average of 34 percent off the retail price of prescription drugs. An additional 100,000 will now be eligible for the program’s discounts.
