We have made arrangements with the hotel to set aside a block of rooms for persons who will be attending the Institute. You should make your hotel room reservations directly with the hotel by calling 614.846.0300. When making your reservation, identify yourself as being with the Ohio AFL-CIO Workers’ Compensation Institute to ensure the special rate of $79 plus tax (16.75%) for a single or double. Please keep in mind that the room cut-off date is January 27, 2008. We suggest you make your hotel reservation as early as possible.

Although the handling and processing of workers’ compensation claims is not difficult, it does require training. This year we will hold another special extended session for people with limited experience in filing workers’ compensation claims. We recommend that all local unions with a compensation committee take advantage of the educational opportunity afforded by this Institute.

The following is an example of classes being offered – filing a claim (temporary total; permanent partial award; permanent total award); occupational disease; mock classes in lump sum settlements; rehabilitation and Industrial Commission issues.

Advanced registration is strongly recommended, however on-site registration will be available at the Midwest Hotel and Conference Center on Sunday, February 17 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and the same location on Monday, February 18 from 7:30 – 9:00 a.m., followed by the beginning of the Institute promptly at 9:00 a.m.

Please make sure that all workers’ compensation representatives attending receive a copy of this letter so they will have all pertinent information.
