We have made arrangements with the hotel to set aside a block of rooms for persons who will be attending the Institute. Unlike previous years, the Institute will not begin until 1:00 p.m. on Monday. There will be a small number of rooms set aside for Sunday night. The Institute will still adjourn around noon on Friday.
You should make your hotel room reservations directly with the hotel by calling 800-417-1057. When making your reservation, identify yourself as being with the Ohio AFL-CIO to ensure the special rate of $119 plus tax for a single or double. Parking will be $8.00 for overnight valet and day of event parking, one vehicle per room, based upon availability. Please keep in mind that the room cut-off date is February 15, 2010. We suggest you make your hotel reservation as early as possible.
Although the handling and processing of workers’ compensation claims may not be difficult, it does require training. This year we will hold a special extended session for people with limited experience in filing workers’ compensation claims, as well as advanced sessions. We recommend that all local unions with a compensation committee take advantage of the educational opportunity afforded by this Institute.
The following is an example of classes being offered – filing a claim (temporary total; permanent partial award; permanent total award); occupational disease; mock classes in lump sum settlements; rehabilitation and Industrial Commission issues.
Advanced registration using the enclosed registration form is strongly recommended. Check in for all registrants will be held Monday, March 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Institute will begin promptly at 1:00 p.m.
Please make sure that all workers’ compensation representatives attending receive a copy of this letter so they will have all pertinent information.
